Timing

Timing. It’s a funny thing. All we think about is when the next major life event is going to take place and where your going to be when it happens. I think about the next “chapter” in my life all the time. I try to figure out what that’s going to look like.

But why do we search so hard for what we want in our timing? Yet we don’t want to be patient enough to waiting on God’s PERFECT timing.

I struggle with this a lot. Always wondering what the impact of this season of life is really going to have on my life. Like is it really going to be big? Or the smallest thing that will go unnoticed?

After this past second Saturday. I could hear the word seasons come up a ton during the post-worship discussion. Why was this word constantly coming up? Everywhere I turned. Every verse I read. It had something to do with seasons of life or God’s timing.

Skyler and I had planned out a very long lesson (as i mentioned in my previous post) for this second Saturday. But we walked in knowing that the likelihood of us actually teaching on it was very slim. We were okay with that. Relentless at first to say the least, but okay.

But then I realized that God is purposely withholding this specific lesson. For a VERY specific reason. I don’t know that reason yet, or I can’t fully comprehend it.

There’s nothing I wanted more then to teach on what Skyler and I had so diligently been learning about. I just wanted to get it out of the way. But God told both of us to wait. Wait, because right now is not the right time that He wants us to teach on this.

Our discussion had so much to do with the seasons of life. We understood them, on paper. But didn’t know how to understand them when it came to our real personal lives.

Like why is this happening in my life? God, why are you taking away the people I love most in this world? What did I ever do to deserve this?

We didn't deserve for God to send His only Son to die on the cross for us. But yet He wanted all of us to live with Him in eternity.

Everything in your life is happening for a specific reason. In most instances we have no idea what that reason is. We have to be obedient in God. And wait for Him to show us the outcome. Stop thinking “oh, this is definitely going to be the outcome,” when in reality we have no earthly clue why things are happening in our life.

Think: What’s the bigger picture? What is God trying to teach me through this?

It’s mind blowing how we don’t deserve to go to heaven. But we’re going because of a God who sent His Son to be placed on a cross and nailed to die.

In our waiting. God is working.

Ecclesiastes 3: 11-12 ~ "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live."
